After one summer with our new air conditioner it came to light that we needed more ducts and a cold air return in the upstairs of our house to make the system function. We have a century home and expected that there would be some work that needed done, just thought that was what we paid Gene's to do when they installed. I'm disappointed that Gene's did not mention any modifications that would need to be completed when they initially installed. My husband had to cut holes in our floors, install (2) ducts and cold air return and turn off a vent in another room to be able to make it function. Gene's should have told us this information when they came out to the house to quote the job initially! Truly disappointed that we had to "fix" our brand new air conditioning to make it functional in our house. Truly dissapointed that no one mentioned that we would need to make modifications to the whole system to get it to cool the upstairs. Unfortunately, I will not recommend them in the future.
They were fantastic .wish they had put my unit in and then i would have had heat before now. very polite and knowledgeable. Very hard workers.I am so glad I finally had 2 guys that knew what they were doing to fix my unit.it is so warm in here now.They are awesome. Dylan and Brent were two of the nicest, most respectful young men I have dealt with. They were very thorough and did a great job! They took the time to show me what they did and explain how to change the filter. I would recommend them to any friends and family. Gene’s is blessed to have them as workers!
Way over priced. Came out and charged for a quote that never was told to me before. Three lights that need to be put up was over $1,000. I got three other quotes (for free) and was half the price.
Genes came out, assessed my problem, provided an estimate and date to fix in less than an hour. The repair was done timely and efficiently. There was great communication with all members of the team at Gene's ... BTW they do just about everything! Furnace, AC, Ducts, electricity, plumbing.......
Gene's Refrigeration did an excellent job clearing a clog in my kitchen sink line. I called them in the morning and was able to get a same day appointment. The technician was on time and worked diligently to fix the problem ... and even cleaned up after himself. I would definitely recommend Gene's!
Jeff, Joey, and Cody were exceptional to work with during our dump pump issues. They were very knowledgeable and skillful in diagnosing the problem and extremely professional in the repair process.
Appointment was made to receive an estimate for work at my home. Technician arrived and at the end of the visit demanded payment for providing the estimate. I was never informed when I called the office or at any time prior to the end of the call that there was any fee.
I have been using Gene's for about 10+ years now. I have used them for both Heating and AC work and plumbing. All the Techs and office staff are great! It's always good to be greated on the phone or in person with a happy smiling person. Never just offer just one solution for things and they discuss them with you. I have never been disappointed. I recommend them to all my family and friends whenever they say they need someone.
I can't recommend Gene's enough. This is the second time we have used their services in the last 3 years and they're the epitome of how a customer should be treated. We had Chris fix the upstairs bathroom after a pipe had burst and flooded our kitchen ceiling. It was a truly unfortunate situation but Chris and his team were able to make us feel 100x better about everything. As I previously stated, I seriously cannot recommend Gene's enough. Customer Loyalty for life!!
Worst experience with a HVAC company. The technician, DJ, was very rude to myself and my father. He mentioned that my control board was faulty and that I needed to replace entire system because they couldn't source the same board. After I went and looked at the board once he left, I found a P/N. I called their parts department and they found a potential replacement board (all stuff DJ could have done). He then came back the next day to install - it worked for a day, then went bad again (I found the same board after they ordered for $185 and they charged me $800). They then charged me ANOTHER service fee to come back and fix their issue.
After all this, I was so disappointed in their service that I went with another company for a second opinion. This company came over and found that the original board had absolutely no issues at all. They fixed the original board and there have been no issues since.
So, Genes made me pay $1000+ dollars and they didn't do anything. The way they wired the replacement board was incorrect and per the second company I hired, was a series fire issue. All they wanted to do was charge me $11,000 for a new system, when I was able to repair for less than $200 with another reputable company in the area.
I don't usually write these reviews, but wanted to share so someone else doesn't get scammed by this company.
Great experience! On a very frigid day, our furnace went out. Everything was fixed on the same day. Technician Josh was very courteous, knowledgeable, and explained things in detail that were easily understood. Very much appreciated.
During this lovely freezing Ohio weather our furnace decided to stop working late in the evening called Gene's and they sent Chris out the next morning. Can't say enough good things about the guy ....honest patient knowledge and the list goes on. Call Gene's for any and all your furnace repairs and maintenance.

When our hot water tank failed, we were left without hot water in the middle of winter. We reached out to Genes Heating and Cooling, and right from our first call, the receptionist’s upbeat attitude made us feel like our business truly mattered.
Chris was our assigned technician, and when he arrived, his positive, respectful, and dedicated attitude immediately impressed us.
Given our past experiences with other companies, we didn’t want to assume that a friendly attitude automatically meant top notch work. So we took our time asking Chris about the installation process.
For every question we had, Chris took the time to explain not just the technical details but also how things fit into our overall situation as homeowners. This open dialogue gave us extra insights into potential future issues that we hadn’t even thought of.
Chris carefully evaluated our home’s unique needs and then expertly installed the new system we purchased. In coordination with his team he was able to overcome every installation obstacle without compromising correctness.

Prompt, friendly, honest & knowledgeable. Have to come back to install a thermostat but it had to be ordered which was expected so not a big deal.
UPDATE: They weren't able to replace my thermostat so I paid for them to come out for them to tell me they have to refer me to The Place for my fireplace. Which means another service call fee. Meanwhile, I called The Place multiple times & left messages and never got a return call. The tech from Gene's was nice & honest or I'd probably give less stars. Look elsewhere for gas fireplace service, etc.
FINAL UPDATE: Adding an additional star back for Gene's office staff being conscientious enough to respect my privacy & not sharing my personal contact info with the owner of The Place. I do appreciate that.
I’m very thankful for him coming and being very thorough and doing the repair and explaining everything to us, I would recommend him to anyone. I’m very thankful and it was in the best three top services I’ve ever had.
Our furnace wasn't working,Gene's had installed a Carrier furnace alittle less than a year ago,we were alittle upset We called Gene's they came out within hours,worked tirelessly trying to figure out the problem,yesterday Feb.5th the worker (can't remember his name Phil?,maybe,figured out it wasn't the furnace it was the gas meter,Columbia came and fixed the problem,this company is amazing,would give more than a 5 star if possible!! The technicians name was Chris, very very knowledgeable.
Jacob was very courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend him any time. Install that was done today, January 29, both Dylan and Brent were very professional, friendly, neat, and knew exactly what they were doing. They installed an air conditioning unit outside, and a new furnace inside and when they left, I couldn’t even tell anybody had been here. Nice cleanup, job, nice all the way around I would highly recommend them again.
We were having issues with our furnace starting up and stopping so we reached out to Gene’s Refrigeration. DJ Carlson came by and needless to say, we were so thankful we called. DJ was professional, kind, extremely knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions and then some! We needed to schedule an engineer to perform an airflow test and instead of having us schedule it, he scheduled it for us in the spot. We will be using Gene’s for any future issues. Thank you DJ!
My wife called in for service on a leaking pressure regulator on our main water line at 8:00 AM, plumber was on site by 12:30 PM same day, work was completed promptly and professionally. Appreciate the help!
We have continued to use Gene's over the years, this year installing a new tankless water heater (the installation is a work of art, they even lined up all of the writing on the outside of the PVC pipes - they know me well) and a new furnace and air conditioner. Each time, their installers are knowledgeable and professional and the office staff always very courteous and kind.
They were here on time, worked quickly, answered all questions. Great experience!!! Would recommend Dylan bathe and Josh Luke were our techs - terrific job.
I needed my 8 foot long bathroom tub drain snaked. I called to get a price but was told that I had to have a service call of $89 and a tech come out to give me a price. I had the tech come out and he told me (Yep your drain is jammed up!) That will cost over $400 to do! I kindly decline that overpriced cost. I instead ordered a Ridge PowerClear unit for $199 and cleared the drain myself. Project done for $288 not $400 plus! I have done business with this company before they cleared my main sewer line for $324 including the service call. Something has changed at this company. I will no longer be using such a expensive plumbing company again. Customers beware.
I called Gene's to come and get my furnace up and running and the service man was here in no time at all, even for it being a Saturday. Ryan Toledo, the serviceman who came was very friendly and really knew what he was doing. He had my furnace running again in no time at all. I have a fuel oil furnace and Ryan never found it a problem to work on like most other places have. I am very happy and satisfied with the work done. Thank you Ryan, you made me very happy to have heat again..
I called on a Saturday evening when my furnace decided to quit. They had a tech to me the next morning. Sunday morning they then scheduled a sales visit because I needed a new furnace. I was scheduled for install and all of that on a Sunday. They left me four heaters to help out. They squeezed me in by the next Friday. These guys from repair tech to sales to install and all of the office people I called repeatedly were awesome they were friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t recommend highly enough.
