I cannot say enough good things about my initial experience with the associates at Gene’s. While they were highly recommended to me, its a people business, so I can only offer an honest review on my personal experience. My first experience was Evan, in sales, and he was great, explained everything, worked with my chaotic schedule and made an offer that fit my budget. I actually enjoyed the experience. Next was Josh, for a service call, for the unit I was not replacing. He installed the part that someone else had suggested (remote diagnostics), but deems the root cause to be something different. He took the time to explain it all to my curious engineering mind and I Cant say enough about the entire experience. Two different people, with the same incredible attitude and care for the experience. This company hires and develops exceptionally, in my opinion! The install is tomorrow And I really hope for more of the same.

So let me share my story. I had seen signs for Genes heating and cooling all over Medina so I figured they were probably the best. We called them up because our air conditioning wasn't working and was surprised that they were able to come out the same day. Unfortunately for us it was a Friday and the technician came at 5:00 p.m. You know what they say regarding the kind of service you'll receive at the end of a work day on a Friday, well it's true. So the first thing I go out to meet the technician and he's standing in my driveway smoking a cigarette... unprofessional, yes. He then tells me he's just going to go over to the unit and will be back. 5 minutes later he tells me he read the gauges and it's low on refrigerant, they need to run a leak test, $585.00 then come back weeks later and repair the leak, and put new refrigerant in at a price of $175 per pound. I tell him that we had troubleshooted the unit and concluded it was the TXV valve, to which the technician flipped his condescending, sexist switch and proceeded to talk down to me and tell me "he knows how to read a simple gauge". Then the technician called somebody else from his company and put him on speaker and started telling him "the customer is arguing with my diagnosis". I told the technician if he would adjust the valves as I advised it would show the unit was in fact over pressured, not low. The guy wanted out of here so bad he told me to call them back and have an after hours technician come out.... Huh?? So I merely said send me the quote and that was that.
Fast forward to us hiring another HVAC company to replace the TXV valve. Had them come out, replace the valve, and boom what do you know... The air conditioning is fixed! So it looks like... The incompetent technician in fact did NOT know how to read a simple gauge. If we had gone with Gene's we would have been soaked for over $1,000 in unnecessary fees. I provided feedback to them when they reached out asking how it went, but never heard back. Great follow up!! They may have some decent technicians but the one we had was awful... Can't tell you his name, he never introduced himself!!

Attempted to utilize the service for ac unit not working. Called to set up service appt. Asked for the next day to avoid the late night extra charge. Scheduled a time the next day within normal working hours. Was called 15 minutes prior to the start of that time window and notified they couldn't make it til later that night and we'd have to pay the higher rate for late hours. Absolutely not. Poor business structure to penalize a customer for the business not being able to make their appt.

Thank you very much for the quick service of my problem air conditioner. I was glad that you could fit me in the next day. The service man was very polite. He put his carpeting sleeves on his feet, he found the problem of the clogged Hose and clear that out. Went on the roof and did his maintenance up there. Got everything done and quick order.

We used genes for years until they lied to us about the age of our hvac / heat pump/ furnace and tried to convince us we needed to buy a whole new one. They even showed us pictures of rusty coils to try to persuade us. Turns out the system is fine and newer then they said. I dont like being lied to or. Mislead.

We had another five-star experience with Gene’s this week. Dylan and Will were kind, courteous, and professional. They completed the job timely, gave a thorough recap of the work, and left my basement as clean as they found it. Dylan was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of my follow-up questions. I will continue to recommend Gene’s to my friends and neighbors.

My Gene's HVAC Technician DJ was EXCELLENT! Not only was he very professional but was very educational. He performed an A/C Tune-Up along with making sure my outside unit was level. Installed a hard start kit to help with the longevity of my compressor. Came inside to check my inside unit and upon inspection noticed some issues where we decided it was best to install an Air Scrubber air purifier to ensure high standard of indoor air quality. I would highly recommend Gene's and their HVAC Technician DJ as they are very professional.

Jacob was very courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend him any time. Install that was done today, January 29, both Dylan and Brent were very professional, friendly, neat, and knew exactly what they were doing. They installed an air conditioning unit outside, and a new furnace inside and when they left, I couldn’t even tell anybody had been here. Nice cleanup, job, nice all the way around I would highly recommend them again.

Our first appointment my husband met Ryan & said he was awesome, very professional & knowledgeable. Did everything he could for us. Then we met Matt who’s outstanding. Matt kept in constant communication with us . Even after the appointment he followed up. During our appointment he was very professional & down to earth. We were very comfortable with Matt in our home . He made sure we knew exactly what we’re getting & the best deal moving forward. Took a month to get my tank properly installed. First tank dented, reinstall failed, last attempt put in by two servicemen but had to be called back for a gas leak. As much as I spent and for the times I took off of work, I will not recommend them for a thing. Quality did not match quantity at all
